The Kadayawan 2008

The Kadayawan 2008 is a celebration of our indigenous cultures, food, arts, hobbies, past and present cultures. Kadayawan is dubbed as the festival of festivals. It’s a simple thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. It evolved into one big party of parties, with the highlight on the diverse groups of Davaoeños. Expected are the streets parties, live bands, celebrities, Arts, Foods, sports, contests, and a lot more…

The Kadayawan 2008 celebration has two main components:

1. Lumadnong Kasaulogan(Indigenous Peoples Festival) - the core of the Kadayawan Festival showcasing our indigenous peoples’ culture and arts.

2. Subay sa Lumadnong Kagikan (Contemporary Indigenous-motivated Celebrations) - showcases the impact of the indigenous culture and traditions to contemporary artists and communities.

Theme of the year: "Musanay Lumadnong Kagikan, Yutang Kabilin Panalipdan!" (“Flourishing Indigenous Heritage, Protecting Ancestral Nations”)

Davao has been the Indigenous Peoples’ homeland, their core of existence. The life and culture of the indigenous peoples have always been bonded to the land. Without the land, culture and traditions are nothing. And there is always the need to defend the indigenous peoples’ ancestral lands for them to continually live and practice their way of life- consulting the spirits, working with nature and sharing with others. The main reason of celebrating the Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2008.
