BUYING TIME

A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year-old son waiting for him at the door.
“Daddy, may I ask you a question?”
“Yeah, sure, what is it?” replied the man.
“Daddy, how much money do you make an hour?
“That’s none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.

“I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?” pleaded the little boy.
“If you must know, I make $20.00 an hour.”
“Oh,” the little boy replied, head bowed. Looking up, he said, “Daddy, may I borrow $10.00 please?”

The father was furious. “If the only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. I work long, hard hours everyday and don’t have time for such childish games.”
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even madder about the little boy’s questioning. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think he may have been a little hard on his son. Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $10.00, and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door.
“Are you asleep son?” he asked.
“No daddy, I’m awake,” replied the boy.

“I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier,” said the man. “It’s been a long day and I took my aggravation out on you. Here’s that $10.00 you asked for.”
The little boy sat straight up, beaming. “Oh, thank you daddy!” he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some more crumpled up bills.
The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at the man.

“Why did you want more money if you already had some?” the father grumbled.
“Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,” the little boy replied.

“Daddy, I have $20.00 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?”

DESTINY

"Your destiny shall not be allotted to you, but you shall choose it for yourselves.” — Plato

“Destiny is something not be to desired and not to be avoided. a mystery not contrary to reason, for it implies that the world, and the course of human history, have meaning.” — Dag Hammarskjold

"We plan our lives according to a dream that came to us in our childhood, and we find that life alters our plans. And yet, at the end, from a rare height, we also see that our dream was our fate. It's just that providence had other ideas as to how we would get there. Destiny plans a different route, or turns the dream around, as if it were a riddle, and fulfills the dream in ways we couldn't have expected" — Ben Okri

“Almost nothing important that ever happens to you happens because you engineer it. Destiny has no beeper; destiny always leans trenchcoated out of an alley with some sort of “Pssst” that you usually can’t even hear because you’re in such a rush to or from something important you’ve tried to engineer.” — David Foster Wallace

Your Kindness

I thought I could hear your angry words to sear my soul.
I know, that I don't deserve this another chance
But then suddenly your kindest words I've ever heard.

There's no more excuse, no one to blame, and nowhere to hide.
Your eyes have found my failures and my pain.
You understands my weaknesses and my shame.
And yet you never leave by my side.

Your kindness leads me to repentance.
In all that I do, I Know that You love me so.
And that makes me want to love You more.

Thank You, Lord :)

Thank you, Lord, for the trials that come my way.
In that way I can grow each day as I let you lead,
And thank you, Lord, for the patience those trials bring.
In that process of growing, I can learn to care.

But it goes against the way I am to put my human nature down
and let the Spirit take control of all I do.

'Cause when those trials come, my human nature shouts
the thing to do and God's soft prompting can be easily ignored.

I thank you, Lord, with each trial I feel inside,
that you're there to help, lead and guide me away from wrong.
'Cause you promised, Lord, that with every testing,
that your way of escaping is easier to bear.

I thank you, Lord, for the victory that growing brings.
In surrender of everything life is so worth while.
And I thank you, Lord, that when everything's put in place,
out in front I can see your face, and it's there you belong.

That it goes against the way I am to put my human nature
down and let the Spirit take control of all I do.

Thank You, Lord :)

DESPERATE

When my world is fading away, I become desperate. In the midst of confusion and pain, I become more depressed. Lord, God. I AM SO LONELY after all. Please help me find a way towards the Happiness oh, Lord. Please lend me your hand to stand after all.

I am asking for your grace of patience and obedience so that I could persevere for the challenges that you gave me. May I be able to use my skills and talents in your perfect way in which may touch and inspire other people.

Lord, I give my life to you. I TRUST YOU!

CHALLENGES IN LIFE

For quite a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin--real life. But there was always some obstacles in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last, it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.

Challenges, yes we all have them! But the difference is how we handle our challenges. In this case, we must learn to deal with our challenges to have less stress in our lives.

Difficult times have helped me to understand better than before, how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way, and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever.

The true measure of a man is not how he behaves in moments of comfort and convenience but how he stands at times of trials and challenges in life. For those who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all are the people who have accomplished the most important things in the world.

JOKE TIME

(from an Arab Student to his dad)

Dear Dad

Berlin is wonderful, people are nice and I really like it here,
but Dad, I am a bit ashamed to arrive at my college with my
pure-gold Ferrari 599GTB when all my teachers and many fellow
students travel by train.

Your son,

Nasser

The next day, Nasser gets a reply to his e-mail
from his dad:

My dear loving son

Fifty million US Dollar has just been transferred
to your account. Please stop embarrassing us.
Go and get yourself a train too.

Love,

your Dad

TOP 10 - Part III

Saturday morning, I woke up and face the day with smile and thanks giving to the one who gave life to me. I have nothing in my pocket except for P20 (budget to reload for Alltext20) and nothing more. Friends has been texting me for some plans to go out. For party, treat, Hang out, celebration and so on and so forth. I kept saying, "Thanks, but No thanks. I'm super broke." I went out and bought some load, went back to the room and browsed the net and my phone. Received a lot of greetings and gratefully replied to them one by one.

I Wanna say thanks to all who greeted me on my birthday. There are friends and relatives who greeted me earlier than 12:00 midnight but then again I'm NOT going to consider it in my list. TOP 10 will be based from 12:00am-11:59pm of May 08, 2010.

My Contemplation

Life has been so obscured early this year, I’ve been contemplating… life has been so uneasy… it’s really hard. But I tried to persevere specially in the season of soul-searching and repentance. And I had this reflection and recollection about the olden days. Reminiscing all the failures and regrets that made me firmly stand on my own. The success and accomplishments that inspired me to move on and share to others what I’ve been through. I know there’s always a purpose for everything. Despite all of these, I realized that I am more blessed than any other people. And I gave back all the glory, honor and power to you, oh Lord.

In the season of Lent, it is originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated themselves and when converts were instructed in the faith and prepared for baptism. By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days. All churches that have a continuous history extending before AD 1500 observe Lent. The ancient church that wrote, collected, canonized, and propagated the New Testament also observed Lent, believing it to be a commandment from the apostles. (See The Apostolic Constitutions, Book V, Section III.)

Advance HaPpy Easter Sunday to ALL. :)

Why Is The Philippines Poor?

Dear Friends,

Here is a good article sent by Dr. Arsenio Martin of Fort Arthur , Texas .
Enjoy reading.

THE DIFFERENCE

The difference between the poor countries and the rich ones is not the age of the country:

This can be shown by countries like
India & Egypt , that are more than 2000 years old, but are poor.

On the other hand, Canada , Australia & New Zealand , that 150 years ago were inexpressive, today are developed countries, and are rich.

The difference between poor & rich countries does not reside in the available natural resources.

Japan has a limited territory, 80% mountainous, inadequate for agriculture & cattle raising, but it is the second world economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw materials from the whole world and exporting manufactured products.

Another example is Switzerland, which does not plant cocoa but has the best chocolate in the world. In its little territory they raise animals and plant the soil during 4 months per year. Not enough, they produce dairy products of the best quality! It is a small country that transmits an image of security, order & labor, which made it the world's strongest, safest place.

Executives from rich countries who communicate with their counterparts in poor countries show that there is no significant intellectual difference.

Race or skin color are also not important: immigrants labeled lazy in their countries of origin are the productive power in rich European countries.

What is the difference then? The difference is the attitude of the people, framed along the years by the education & the culture & flawed tradition.

On analyzing the behavior of the people in rich & developed countries, we find that the great majority follow the following principles in their lives:

1. Ethics, as a basic principle.
2. Integrity.
3. Responsibility.
4. Respect to the laws & rules.
5. Respect to the rights of other citizens.
6. Work loving.
7. Strive for savings & investment.
8. Will of super action.
9. Punctuality.
10. and of course...Discipline

In poor countries, only a minority follow these basic principles in their daily life.

The
Philippines is not poor because we lack natural resources or because nature was cruel to us. In fact, we are supposedly rich in natural resources.

We are poor because we lack the
CORRECT ATTITUDE. We lack the will to comply with and teach these functional principles of rich & developed societies.

If you do not forward this message nothing will happen to
you. Your pet will not die, you will not be fired, we will not have bad luck for seven years, and also, we will not get sick or go hungry.

But those may happen because of Your lack of discipline & laziness

Your love for intrigue and politics, Your indifference to saving for the future, Your stubborn attitude.

If you love Your country, let this message circulate so that many Filipinos could reflect about this, & CHANGE, ACT!
